Overpay Owl is a billing audit and dispute tool. You upload a bill or invoice, the system flags suspicious charges, and you can generate a dispute-ready letter to send to the vendor. It works for telecom, utilities, SaaS, insurance, rent, and vendor invoices.
You can get started with a free account — no credit card required. Signing up gives you a persistent dashboard, bill history, and letter generation. The Free tier lets you upload one bill and generate one dispute letter per month.
Overpay Owl accepts PDF files and common image formats including PNG, JPG, and GIF. Most billing documents from telecom, utility, and SaaS vendors work well. Files up to 50MB are supported.
Most bill analyses complete in under 30 seconds. Multi-page or complex documents may take slightly longer. You'll see the results appear in your dashboard as soon as the analysis is done.
Yes. The Free tier lets you upload one bill per month and generate one dispute letter without entering a credit card. You only need to upgrade if you want unlimited uploads, all tone options, and access to the full dashboard.
After a bill is uploaded, the analysis layer reads through all line items and looks for patterns that indicate overcharges — duplicate entries, unexplained fee increases, services not requested, equipment charges for owned devices, junk add-ons, and regulatory fees that exceed normal ranges.
Common flags include: broadcast or regional sports TV fees, duplicate service charges, equipment rental for personally-owned devices, rate changes without notice, services added without consent, and billing anomalies compared to your previous statements.
The flagging system is designed to surface items worth reviewing, not to make final legal determinations. Not every flagged item will result in a successful dispute. Think of it as a second set of eyes that catches things most people miss.
The system is optimized for standard digital billing documents — PDFs and images of printed invoices. Handwritten or heavily stylized documents may not extract correctly. Standard utility, telecom, and SaaS invoices work best.
You can review the full line-item breakdown in your dashboard and manually note additional issues before generating a dispute letter. The letter editor is fully editable before you send or download.
Three tones are available: Soft (friendly and cooperative, best for first contact), Firm (direct and professional, clearer about expectations), and Lawyer (formal legal language, most assertive). Soft is available on the Free tier. All three are available on Pro and Business.
Yes. Every generated letter opens in an editable text area before you copy, download, or save it. You can change names, dates, amounts, or the entire tone of the letter before it leaves your hands.
Overpay Owl generates the letter for you to send. You copy or download it, then send it directly to the vendor via email, certified mail, or their billing dispute portal. We don't send on your behalf — that's intentional, so you retain full control.
Letters can be copied to clipboard, downloaded as a plain text file, or saved as a PDF. The PDF option preserves formatting and is recommended for anything you might need to reference later or attach to an email.
The letters are professional dispute communications, not legal documents. For consumer disputes, they're designed to cite your rights under standard billing regulations. For situations that require formal legal action, we recommend consulting a consumer attorney.
The Free tier includes one bill upload per month, AI-powered charge flagging, one dispute letter per month (Soft tone only), and a basic dashboard. It's designed to let you verify the value before upgrading.
Pro is for individuals who want unlimited uploads, all letter tones, and full dashboard access. Business adds multi-company workspaces, client viewer portals, admin inbox processing, team access (up to 5 members), role-based permissions, and priority support.

Yes. Annual billing saves 20% compared to monthly. The discount is applied automatically when you select the annual option at checkout.
All major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Annual plans are charged once per year. We don't store card details ourselves — Stripe handles payment security.
A viewer portal gives a client read-only access to their company's dispute dashboard — they can see recovery metrics, case statuses, and resolved amounts without accessing the underlying workflow, documents, or admin controls.
The Business plan supports multiple company workspaces. Each company has its own separated records, dispute pipeline, and optional viewer portal.
Not on the Viewer tier. Clients with viewer access can see the status of disputes managed on their behalf. Uploading and managing disputes requires account access at the operator level.
An API is on the roadmap for team and enterprise integrations. If you have a specific integration need, reach out via contact@overpayowl.com and we'll let you know the timeline.
The standard Business plan supports up to 5 team members with role-based access (admin, manager, analyst, viewer). If you need more seats, contact us for a custom arrangement.
All documents are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Company workspaces are fully separated — no data from one account is visible to another. Access is controlled through role-based permissions on the Business tier.
No. Your billing documents are used only to provide the flagging and dispute generation service. We don't sell, share, or use your data to train external models beyond what's necessary for the analysis.
Documents remain in your dashboard until you delete them. Business accounts with retention policies enabled can set automatic deletion windows per category.
